THE BOOK OF ELLA

Ella, La Morada, built, 1895, | Taos, NM

Max (my Pointer) would always hold a cherished place in my heart, and Ella’s presence offered a path toward healing. I met Ella after I decided to make the most difficult decision of putting Max down. My niece (Jasmine) encouraged me to visit Maricopa Animal Care. I paused. I told her I don’t think I can go through more tragedy. As I walked through the doors, the atmosphere was filled with the “cries for help,” barks, and soft whimpers. Ella, with her soulful eyes and gentle demeanor, caught my attention. She was cautious, wagging her tail hesitantly as if sensing my heartache. Ella is more than just a new companion; she is a testament to the enduring power of a dog’s love, capable of weaving light into the darkest times. Much more than a best friend.
